The Operations Manager will provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Maintenance Manager, Team Leaders, and production teams to ensure the safe operation of personnel and equipment and ensure all production goals and deadlines are met. This position will work closely with the President/COO and VP of Operations to maintaining the highest level of product quality while improving productivity and reducing operating costs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the daily management of production and production teams
- Provide leadership to Maintenance Manager, Team Leaders, and production associates, including regular staff meetings to review state of business and manufacturing progress to goals
- Coordinate plant activities and provide guidance through planning with departmental managers to ensure total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely, safe, and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of people, machines, and equipment
- Review production and operating reports and direct/assist the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and downtime
- Ensure all production associates comply with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations
- Ensure production teams are adhering to Associate Principles and administering practices in a fair and consistent manner
- Has 24-hour accountability for the operations
- Facilitate and/or assist resolution to issues as it relates to production, safety, and quality
- Develop manufacturing plan and establish procedures [SOPs] for maintaining high standards of manufacturing operations to ensure product meet established customer and quality standards
- Develop and/or recommend manufacturing programs that guide the organization in maintaining and improving its competitive position
- Identify, recommend and implement change to improve productivity and reduce cost
- Participate in annual budgeting process, including capital plans
- Monitor overall plant performance for production, safety, and quality standards through key performance indicators
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Business Management, Operations Management or equivalent discipline
- 5+ years management experience
- Excellent skills at developing/mentoring people
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to influence others
